Examination Board: EDEXCEL

What will you study in this subject?

  • Develop a range of drama skills: mime, duologues, monologues
  • Study key drama practitioners:Stanislavski, Beckett, Artaud, Brecht and Berkoff
  • Devise improvisations: develop strong dialogue 
  • Perform scripts studying a variety of genres/time periods

How is your work assessed?

Unit 1: Drama Exploration’

  • Practical: A two day practical examination on a theme i.e.: ‘conflict’ 
  • Written: ‘Documentary evidence’ on the exam (2000 words)

Internally assessed and accounts for 30% of the grade

Unit 2: Exploring Play Texts

  • Practical: A Theatre trip, followed by a practical exam based on the play. 
  • Written: ‘Documentary evidence on the exam (1000 words).
  • ‘A Theatre review’ on the live production (2000 words) 

Internally assessed and accounts for 30% of the grade

Unit 3: Drama Performance

  • Learn and perform a script to an audience and external examiner.

This task is 100% practical and it is externally assessed. It accounts for 40% of the grade.
